posted October 23, 2000 17:35 CT    Delete This Entry
In the Fall Volume 3 Footprints of Williamson Co.,page 15, I was so thrilled to see an excerpt about Grandpa Evans, from the article titled "Our Old Men and How They Vote" He was my great grandfather Dr. Wm. Spratley Evans and I have only recently found info. on both him and my grandfather, Dr. George W. Evans. Grandpa Evans was a Physician and a Methodist Minister and I believe he belonged to Methodist Church South. I would love to know if there are any records of him there or if anyone knows any of the families.
He died in April 1904. He had two children by his first wife, Mrs. C.H. House, of Marion and Mrs. Fannie Preston of Sewanee, Tennessee. With his second wife were my grandfather, Dr. George Evans and four daughters, Mrs. W.M. Davis, Mrs. Joseph Fozzard, Mrs. G.T.Clawson and Mrs. L.W.Carpender. I am longing to find out information of the early years of my father William Harrison Evans and his brother Harry. Can anyone advise me or are any of you relatives of mine?

Seeking information on Edward William ELLIOTT& Sarah C CULP m 28 Nov 1865 in Williamson Co. He was born June 1841 in Franklin Co but we do not have his parents names. Both their Surnames names are mispelled on the marriage license-- His is Ellert & Eller, and hers Colp. Culp is spelled with a u and an o and sometimes even an s on the end, however ELLIOTT is correct in all other records found. I have found some information that the original family spent 5 years in GA from about 1815 to 1820 and then settled in Randolph, Perry and Jackson Counties in IL. Any one still around that has knowledge of them?

TEAGUE, 1800s. Looking for information on Joseph Morgan TEAGUE, born abt. 1823 in McMinn Co, TN and married 31 Jan 1847 to widow Malinda (ELLIOTT) KELLY in McMinn Co, TN. At the time of their marriage, Malinda had three sons by her former marriage: Iverson G. Kelly born about 1838, John Napaleon Bonaparte Kelly born about 1841 and James Kelly born about 1842. All 3 boys enlisted in A Co., 59th MI, Tenn. Confederate Mounted Infantry Regiment. James was Corporal, Iverson and John were Privates. Malinda and Joseph were the parents of 6 sons: Pleasant McDonald Teague born 4 Aug 1848, Eli Ashbury Teague born about 1850, William Riley Teague born 13 Mar 1852, Thomas M. Teague born about 1854, Francis Marion Teague born 1857, and George Washington Teague born about 1859. Joseph's and Malinda's oldest son, Pleasant enlisted in Co. I, 3rd Regiment, East Tennessee Calvary, Union Army in Nov. 1863, mustered in 14 Dec 1863 at Knoxville, Tennessee. After Pleasant enlisted in the Union Army, Joseph and Malinda left East Tennessee and moved to Williamson Co, Illinois. Pleasant was erroneously reported to have been killed aboard the Steamer Sultana that exploded at Cairo, IL on 24 Apr 1865 as it was returning soldiers to the north after the war ended. Some of Joseph's and Malinda's children moved to Fannin Co, Texas in February 1885, eventually settling in Cooke Co, Texas. Others stayed in Williamson County. I am not able to document assumed parentage of Joseph as being Isaac Curry Teague and Rachael PRICE. According to family stories, Joseph inherited part interest in a riverboat along with some ladies named MORGAN. Would like to exchange data with anyone with knowledge about this family. It is not known if Joseph and Malinda Teague moved to Texas with their children or stayed in Williamson Co, Illinois.

Somewhere out there are several of you who are related to me. Our line of Russells goes back very far, Philip Russell b. 1765 m. Elizabeth Stewart in Va. in late 1700's-migrated to Tenn. in late 1700 then on to Southern Illinois in 1817. There are several of us who are from these two people and have found each other on the internet. We are all over the US and all online. We are still searching for the brothers and sisters of Philip Russell. We are also searching for his mother's full name..all we have is "Ann". We know someone, somewhere has the piece of the puzzle. If you are a descendantof Philip and Elizabeth, please join us (The Russell Clan) online. Below are the children of these two. We are online with nearly all descendants of the children. The only one that eludes us is the oldest child, Martha Patsy Weeks Russell who married William Campbell in Tenn. ca 1817-moved to Wisconsin in early 1800's.
