I found my ancestors James P. Butler
and wife Blanche Peterson Butler with their children in the 1880 census
for Williamson County Illinois.
James P. Butler, age 35, born Tn (12-12-1835)
Blanche Peterson, age 37, born NC (born 8-6-1833
Their 5 children:
William, age 20, birthplace Illinois
John, age 18, birthplace Illinois
Mary Elmina age 11, birthplace Illinois
Louis W. age 8, birthplace Illinois
James, age 5, birthplace Illinois
I believe the ages are not listed correctly as James should be 45 and
Blanche should be 47 in 1880.
Blanche is listed as "sick" on census, and family information
lists her death in February of 1880.
I would imagine that most likely James P. Butler remarried after the
death of his wife blanche in 1880.
Their daughter, Mary Elmina Butller married Andrew Jasper Doughty, and
reared their family in the Corinth area; next to Shiloh Church.
They are both buried in the Shiloh Cemetery.
My G-Grandmother Mary Elmina Butler-Doughty inherited a portion of her
Fathers farm in Corinth, and so did her baby Brother James B. Butler.
Family legend has her brothers, John, William, Louis W. and James all
moving to St. Louis, MO.
The only mention of her brothers in our family papers is a hand written
wedding announcement, mailed from St. Louis Mo in April of 1904, to James
P. Butler in Corinth:
James B. Butler & Isabel Smith married December 30th 1903 in St.
Louis Missouri. James & Isabel Butler live at 4449 Ashland Avenue, St.
Louis, Missouri.
I am interested in finding any families connected to the above
mentioned persons.
I cannot find any brother above in any census of Williamson County
after 1880.

I am searching for information
regarding my paternal great grandparents, Carlo (Charlie) Ruggeri and his
wife Maria Carnaghi Ruggeri. Both immigrated from Cuggiono, Italy prior to
1900, to Herrin, Illinois. Charlie Ruggeri was a coal miner. I think he
must have been involved in the 1922 strike at Southern Illinois Coal. I am
trying to validate that.
I still have relatives in Herrin named Calcaterra, but they do not seem
interested in participating in the research. Any help would be
